Building Maintenance Units

Select Access, along with our manufacturing partners JPV, are one of the most experienced and knowledgeable suppliers and installers of facade access solutions, building maintenance units and internal gantry systems within the Ireland & the UK.

We design permanent bespoke systems which provide access for both internal and external facades of all types of buildings. Our units are primarily used for maintenance purposes such as replacing glass panels, window cleaning, repairs and inspections.

As today’s buildings are constantly advancing within the construction industry, we are now seeing new and exciting engineering practices and architectural designs. Our range of Building Maintenance Units (BMUs) and Gantry Systems are bespoke designed in accordance with all the latest regulations. For every unique project we design or install, we work closely in consultation with our client’s team to ensure that all their maintenance requirements are met in full.

Our Building Maintenance Units Systems are mounted permanently at roof level and provide the most complete and safest form of suspended Building Access System. They allow for full horizontal, vertical and lateral movement of the working platform.

The video above shows a BMU System being load tested before being installed on site. This procedure is carried out with every BMU System we provide.

The cradles attached have a typical working load limit of 250kg, although systems that accommodate additional loads can also be developed.

We offer a range of Building Maintenance Units that can either be fixed position or else running on anchored or free-laid tracks. We also provide trackless machines that can travel on a concrete surface without a guide rail, allowing a terrace area to be used for pedestrian access.

Our Building Maintenance Units are produced in accordance with the following regulations:

  • Quality Management Systems – ISO 9001: (2015)
  • European Standard for machinery 2006/42/EC
  • European Standard safety requirements on Suspended Access Equipment EN 1808:2015
  • Safety of Machinery – Electrical equipment on machines – EN 60204-1 (2006)
  • Hot-dip galvanised coating on fabricated iron and steel articles (ISO 1461:2009)
  • Specification and approval of welding procedures for metallic materials. Welding procedures specification for arc welding (EN-1 & EN-288-2) 1992
  • Certificate of Conformity (SASO, KUCAS, GOST…)
  • UL Certificate
  • AS 101 advisory standards for construction, operation and maintenance of suspended scaffolds used for window cleaning and light maintenance.
